Circana’s comprehensive weekly updates on the U.S. consumer packaged goods sector monitor the impact of macroeconomic factors, including tariffs, on volume, price, and supply, providing valuable insights to support critical business decisions. Highlights from the week ending June 29, 2025: Volume declines persist in retail F&B, with the latest four weeks down 0.6% as unfavorable weather and cautious consumer sentiment dampen summer spending. Though slowdown is witnessed across F&B, it is most evident in outdoor entertaining staples , particularly in regions most impacted by unseasonably cool weather like the Northeast and Midwest . In contrast, the latest week ending June 29 brought heat waves across the U.S., triggering mixed effects (spending surge in northern states and pullback in the hottest southern states). Price growth remains stable in F&B with minimal impact from tariffs to date . Current inflationary pressures stem from specific commodity volatility across eggs, cocoa, and coffee, combined with premiumization trends in select segments, such as frozen desserts. In non-food CPG, macro trends, such as weather, economic uncertainty , and cleaner, more sustainable living , shape spending and contribute to worsening slowdown in 2025 . Price growth in non-food CPG continues to reflect channel and product mix shifts , with minimal observable tariff impact on shelf prices to date.
